Brojanica & Brojanice

There haven’t been a lot of sources that offer authentic and blessed prayer rope online. And we thought it was time to make it simple for our Orthodox brothers from the Balkans. Why Balkans? you ask. Well, brojanica and brojanice is how people from Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, and Bosnia & Herzegovina call the Orthodox prayer rope. They would normally get their knotted Orthodox bracelets and necklaces from their local Orthodox Church, but when you live abroad and do not have an Orthodox Church in your town or city it becomes a bit hard to get by them. So for all those who have been searching in vain, the good news, we ship worldwide.

People from the Balkans stay close to the tradition where ever they are, for instance, they have Orthodox feasts called slavas. These are celebrations of the families Patron Saints that are celebrated annually on the Saints feast day. These celebrations are passed down from father to son, and are very important and loved family celebrations in honour of the Patron Saint. If you are lucky to get invited to such a celebration, you will be in for a treat. These days are celebrated with the family’s dearest and closest friends and family members.

Tip: We also offer some magnificent Orthodox Icons in our store.

But let’s get back to the Brojanica ‘s. An important thing to mention is that our bracelets and necklaces are handmade and purified and blessed by the Orthodox Church. This makes Prayer-Bracelet.com one of the few online stores that offer authentic brojanica. We offer them in a variety of wondrous colors and with several divider beads. Every now and then we introduce new colors and new versions of these products.

One of our introductions was the “rosary like” prayer necklace. Basically, this is an Orthodox brojanica necklace that is knotted in a way that resembles a rosary necklace. This is a bit confusing because it is still a brojanica necklace but because of its longer length, it looks like a rosary. Also, we offer the traditional 300-knot version of this necklace, this is a necklace that is mostly used by monks but due to recurring requests from our customers, we have included them too.

Below some other Brojanica variations

We have also added semi-precious stone brojanice, you will find black onyx, lapis lazuli, tiger-eye, purple amethyst stone versions, and many more. Next to that, we have also added Swarovski crystal brojanice to our collection. These are made with genuine Swarovski Element Crystal and Pearl beads. These stone and Swarovski Beaded Prayer Bracelets have been designed in-house and are exclusively available in our store. Our clients love these and combine them with the traditional knotted versions.

If you are wondering how it’s called in other Orthodox countries, here are some examples. In Greece, it is called a komboskini, in Russia a chotki and in Romania a Mătănii or Metanii.
