In a sweet tweet, Lady Gaga wrote: “I designed a Japan Prayer Bracelet. Buy It/Donate her and ALL proceeds will go to Tsunami Relief Efforts. Go Monsters.”
Lady Gaga Prayer Bracelet? to help Japan! That is a cool and selfless act!
Unfortunately,……there are times when we try to help, sincerely, from the deepest pit of our hearts yet we still end up being seen as the bad guy. That’s exactly what happened to Lady Gaga when she promoted a religious bracelet to help aid Japan in the earthquake and tsunami aftermath. She designed the bracelets herself, and let all the funds go to Japanese relief efforts. The sales reached up to a million and a half. The singer even appeared on a charity show for benefit of the Japan Red Cross. However, one attorney accused her of a crime we all know she wouldn’t waste time to commit. The complainant said the so-called religious bracelets are subject to a sales tax and an extra $3.99 shipping charge was added to the cost and even ridiculously made herself believe that not all proceeds from the bracelets would go straight to the relief efforts, demanding a public accounting of the campaign and refunds for everybody who had bought the cute religious bracelet. Gaga’s spokesperson dubbed the lawsuit “meritless” and “misleading”.
In return, Gaga fights back, as she has the right to do so, and prove that she’s not guilty of such an unnecessary crime. We all know she’s filthy rich, so why in the world would she do that? And to think all she wanted to do was to help those people?
To defend the pop icon, her spokesperson stated:
“This misguided lawsuit is without merit and unfortunately takes attention away from the kind deeds of the fans around the world who are supporting the people of Japan. The entire $5 donation made with the purchase of each bracelet is going to support the disaster relief. No profit is being made on shipping costs. Sales tax charges were made in accordance with local legal requirements. Lady Gaga has personally pledged her own funds to this cause and continues to support the victims of the disaster.”
Unfortunately still, the firm is determined to pursue a class-action suit , whatever that means, and fight for possible refunds. Wow, do these people honestly think she’d risk her reputation by doing something like that? Poor Gaga. Who are the monsters now?
Currently, though, unbelievable as it may seem, our favorite diva is sued for plagiarism. Whew! And it all happened in 2011. That’s almost a wrap. Hand me over that religious bracelet and let’s pray for Gaga.
Lady Gaga Prayer Bracelet, well a +10 for the effort!
Unfortunately the world is a cruel place sometimes 🙁
